The Beautiful Thing Turns Into a Nightmare!!

Here is a little bit of an update on how that project of mine has started out. What I thought was going to be an easy to do website with the ideas that where in my head, has turned into a nightmare, for a few simple reasons. One for some reason I cannot get the colors I want, maybe they are just in my head or I am just going crazy from all of the colors that I have been through. Two I asked my boyfriend, since it is for his family's business, what kind of information he would like to see on the website. The answer that he gives me is that he doesn't know, that I should put what I think would be good on the website. So I slowly explain to him that I don't know much about trucking or about their business history and that it would be nice of him if he could give some useful information instead of what kind of trucks they drive. In the end I went to his mom and asked her about the company and what kind of information she would have on a website about their company. Later that day she hands me about 50 pages of information that she thinks would be good on their website.....ugh...someone help me.

Once again wish me luck.

  1. If you're in a funk with colors, I find http://www.colorcombos.com/ one of my favorite websites. Using the swatches palette in Illustrator, which I can show you, helps with contrasting or complimentary colors too!

I think one of the hardest things about design is dealing with clients because some can be vague or extremely picky. Perhaps take a highlighter (I'd use pink since thats my favorite) and strip the 50 pages. Ask the client "What are some main points you want -- such as contact, history, mission statement, etc". Anything to get a basis so you can strip that sucker down.

    Hope this helps!

  2. That is a good idea. Thanks so much. :)))) And I think you'll have to show me the stuff on Illustrator sometime.

  3. Sometimes a load of work can interrupt your balance to focus. Your interest with working with colors is a very vivid one, and if there's a part that i can help you with, I'm just two seats away!! ^_^

  4. When I think of trucks, I think of grease (greenish yellow), tires (black), engine heat (red), road signs (bright yellow),and roads(grey). Not a pink or purple thing to me,......What do you think?

  5. I agree with you on those colors when you think of trucks, the reason I thought about pink, purple, and blues is because those are their logo colors. But I get what your saying.

  6. Definitely need to choose colors complimentary to their logo, just keep that grease in mind! ;)
